Dear Staff and Families,
I regret to inform you that we have two more positive cases of Covid-19 at Durham Community School. The students were not at school when they became symptomatic, so there is no need for contact tracing.
In RSU5, we are now at 21 confirmed, and 3 probable for a total of 24 of our students having tested positive for Covid since the return to school in September. With the four staff members testing positive, we are at 28 total positive cases in RSU 5 since September. In the past 14 days, we have had 6 positive student cases districtwide.
I’m hopeful that more and more people will soon be vaccinated. Until our numbers begin to flatten out, I am asking that our families and staff try and restrict their social gatherings as much as possible outside of school. While in school, we are practicing social distancing, mask wearing, and frequent hand washing, thus reducing transmission of the virus.
Please monitor yourself/your student for signs and symptoms. Please err on the side of staying home when symptomatic. Any additional questions for the school can be directed to the school nurse, Kim Gormely, or Principal Pidden at Durham Community School. As always, thank you for your continued support as we navigate these pandemic times.
