Dear Staff, Parents and Community Members,
The RSU 5 Board of Directors is moving forward in the search for the new Superintendent of Schools and wanted to provide an update to the community around steps taken to date, as well as the process moving forward. The School Board established an Ad Hoc Superintendent Search Committee made up of Elisabeth Munsen, Maddy Vertenten, Colin Cheney and Michelle Ritcheson, who are working closely with Eileen King from Maine School Management Association, who is the search coordinator. This Committee will facilitate the search process. The Board will conduct their final interviews in March with the goal of offering a contract to the successful candidate in late March.
On January 3rd, the position of Superintendent of Schools was posted within Maine and nationally to attract a broad and diverse pool of candidates. The posting will remain open until February 14th. Interested candidates will reach out to Maine School Management Association who will serve as the main contact for candidates throughout the process.
Listening sessions will be scheduled with the staff. The goal of these sessions is to collect data regarding the characteristics and qualifications that they would like in their next Superintendent of Schools. The data collected during the listening sessions, along with the information collected during the creation of the district’s strategic plan, will be used to develop scoring rubrics for the applications and the interview questions.
A Community Search Committee is being created that will include a variety of community, staff and student stakeholders who will participate in the search process. A letter from the Superintendent Search Ad Hoc Committee will be forthcoming with additional details for those interested in participating.
