4/10/2020 Update

This week we got the news we really did not want to hear.  We were all holding out hope that we would get to return to school in May or June.  I understand why the commissioner of education made the decision she did, but it is still not what we wanted to hear.  So with the new reality in Maine to finish the school year online, we will continue to focus on improving our instruction for our students.

Please feel free at any time to reach out to the teachers if the work is difficult or too much for your child.  This past week and in future weeks we are spending time sharing lessons with each other that students have responded positively to.  Our staff has been very reflective and looking at what is working in other classrooms, other schools and other states to help us move forward.

Next week is a four day week. April vacation will start on Friday.  There will still be some work assigned on Thursday they may need to finish on Friday.

Our 8th-grade teachers are working on how to modify the 30s unit, so our 8th graders still get this experience.  When we get closer to the end of the year and we know more about what we are and are not allowed to do this summer, we will talk further about what the 8th-grade celebration may be able to look like.

Our 6th-grade students will receive a google form on Monday for their World Language/JMG selection for next year.  7th and 8th-grade students take either French, Spanish or JMG. They stay with the same subject for both their 7th and 8th-grade year.  Please talk to your child about their selection.

Have a great weekend!!

Ray
