Dear RSU 5 Families,

Hope you found a way to celebrate the 4th in a safe, but fun way!

Thank you for filling out the recent survey where we sought to gather some information from you in case we need to be in a “hybrid” model at any point next year. I want to stress that no decisions about the beginning of school have been made, and it will be unlikely that anything will be decided before August 1. We are planning for three scenarios (full remote, partial remote, full return).

The Advisory Team for Reopening will meet next week on July 7. A reminder that if you would like to offer input and you're not on the committee, I am having a recap meeting after every committee meeting that is open to anyone who would like to provide additional feedback or ask questions. Would love to hear from you!

Recap Meetings with the Superintendent are from 4:30-5:30 p.m. July 7 & 21; August 4 & 18. The link is below:

https://networkmaine.zoom.us/j/84700793864

Meeting ID: 847 0079 3864
Join by telephone: 1 646 876 9923

To see the Committee's work, go to Agenda/Meeting Notes from Team Meetings or the Recap Meeting Notes. All notes are kept up to date on the website under Covid: https://www.rsu5.org/Content2/640

In addition, the DOE would love your input about the reopening of schools beginning July 6th. If you would like to fill out the survey, please go to this link:

In my last newsletter, I included the following quote that I had recently read:
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.”

I thought the source of the quote was Benjamin Franklin, but one of my readers pointed out that no such evidence exists: https://checkyourfact.com/2019/04/15/fact-check-facebook-ben-franklin- %20justice-served-unaffected-outraged/

I apologize for the error and will be sure to be more careful going forward with checking the accuracy of quotes!

Stay well,

Becky Foley, Superintendent
