Principal's Message

Dear Freeport High School Parents,

As winter and the holidays are approaching, things at Freeport High School are full steam ahead.  We’ve had a great start to the year in terms of our students working hard in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in our visual and performing arts departments and in our clubs and extra curricular activities.  We had our quarterly recognition awards right before Thanksgiving, where we recognized students for their efforts and achievements in all aspects of our school community.  We recognized 227 students for honor or high honor roll for the first quarter!

For the first time in over two decades, every one of our fall sports varsity teams made it to the post season. Our fall musical, Letters at Sea, written and directed by our very own VPA teacher Simon Skold, was an outstanding performance.  We had fantastic fall concerts with our band and chorus students, and are looking forward to the holiday concert.  Our students have put in extensive hours working on community service projects, such as a group of our Interact Club students who started the “Food for Change” project where local farmers donate excess food for the students and community partners to cook and make meals for Freeport Community Services Food Pantry.  We are incredibly proud of our student and all that they have done to benefit their own academic success as well as our school and community.  Finally, we are ecstatic about the opening of the new addition to our school building in the New Year.  Our staff and students will be thrilled to have the new spaces open and they will get detailed information about moving into the new building spaces in the next couple of weeks.
