Dear 2021-2022 Pre-K Families:
Our Pre-K program is designed to prepare students with the skills needed to be successful in Kindergarten and to support learning and exploration in our youngest learners. All children who reside in Durham and will be four years of age on or before October 15, 2021 are eligible for our free public Pre-K program in the fall.
The Pre-K program is half days Monday-Friday, either mornings (8:30am-11:20am) or afternoons (12:30pm – 3:15pm) with bus transportation provided.
We are excited to offer 48 spaces, two morning classes and one afternoon class of sixteen children in each session. If there are fewer than 48 students registered all students are accepted but If there are more children registered than spaces available, priority will be given to those with academic or developmental needs, and the remaining places will be determined through a lottery for those students who sign up by March 12. After the initial selection, a waiting list will be created on a first come, first serve basis in case openings become available.
Please click here to pre-register your child.
Incoming Pre-K Information Night will take place on March 4, 2021 at 6pm via zoom.
Screening will take place on March 19 (following CDC guidelines). Please call the office at 353-9333 to schedule an appointment.
After the initial selection, a waiting list will be created on a first come, first serve basis for when openings become available.
We look forward to partnering with you as your child begins their school experience at Durham Community School.
