The purpose of the Drama Club is to promote the development of theater skills and community through the creation of theatre. This community accepts each member for whom s/he is, strives to nurture relationship, dedication, loyalty, and commitment while engaged in the process of mounting a theatrical production and building theater skills. Rehearsals usually take place between 3:00 and 5:30 pm., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, then 6:30 to 8:30 pm., Tuesdays and Thursdays, when a show is in production. Acting skills and technical skills in lighting, set work, stage management and sound are taught. Membership is usually based on a desire to become part of a community of individuals dedicated to the creation of a theatrical event.

Musical: The annual musical production is produced each fall. Auditions are usually held at the end of August.

One-Act Play: The Freeport High School One-Act Drama program is one of only two drama programs in the state that produces student-written plays for entry into the annual Maine Principal's Association One-Act Drama Festival competition.

The one acts are part of a state wide program where schools from all over preform 40 minute or less plays. The first weekend in March is the regional festival/competition where the schools put their plays before a team of judges with the hopes of winning first place and moving up to the state level. Audience members are welcome to view any one of those shows (space is limited, and we ask that audience members come for an entire block of shows). Please see the site above for schedule.
