High School Program of Studies (PDF)
RSU No. 5 strives to create and maintain curriculum that is:
- Collaboratively designed
- Standards-based
- Coordinated and connected across grade levels and content areas
- Informed by research, student learning data, and future trends
- Balances high expectations for student learning with student learning needs
- Regularly developed, amended, and improved
- Includes aligned assessments and quality instruction
- Serves as a guide for parents, students, community members, as well as teachers
RSU No. 5 is in the process of developing written curricula that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Maine’s Learning Results for each of the content areas:
- English Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Social Studies
- Science & Technology
- Visual & Performing Arts
- Health & Physical Education
- World Languages
- Career and Education Development
In addition, RSU No. 5 is in the process of:
- Identifying and adopting a set of work and college readiness skills, and
- Creating assessments through which students can demonstrate work and college readiness
