FY19 Budget - Public Participation

Dear Parents and Community Members,

The RSU5 School Board will be voting on the 2018-2019 Superintendent’s Recommended Budget at the Board Meeting on March 28th. At the March 21st Board meeting, I will give a brief overview of the proposed budget before deliberations begin with the Board of Directors. We have received some updated projected revenues and expenditures that we will be sharing. At this meeting, there will be two opportunities to have your voice heard.  Prior to the start of the Board meeting, from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., you will have an opportunity to meet informally with members of the Board to ask questions. The second opportunity will be during the Board meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m.  After a brief review of the budget we will be taking public input and questions. The meeting will be held at the Freeport High School Library.

We have proposed a budget that we believe to be fiscally responsible and that will lead to increased student achievement. We welcome your feedback to our proposed budget. Budget information can be found on the RSU5 website under Budget 2018-2019.

In addition, after the School Board votes on the budget on March 28, 2018, there will be three opportunities for the public to ask questions about the budget before the Annual Budget Meeting on May 23, 2018 and the Budget Validation Referendum on June 12, 2018. These “Dine and Discuss” sessions will be held as follows:

We look forward to your continued participation in the budget process.

Dr. Becky J. Foley
Superintendent of Schools
